That annoying time of the year

Ohh I hate this time of the year when they light up fireworks at night for a month and startles baby J during his sleep. Arghhh.

Nap

Jimmy has been napping for an hour or so by himself (not in my arms) for the past 3 days, yay! Hopefully this will become a routine. Wow, the things that make me happy these days....I'm getting old.

He's almost 2 months old, and this is what I've observed:

• He has a pooping routine in the morning, just like his daddy! When he wakes up, he does a 3-4 time pooping marathon. He makes this serious face when he's pooping and becomes extra quiet.
• He can turn his head from left to right when he's on his tummy. He does this a lot.
• He loves the mirror, he smiles when he sees me or himself in the mirror. 
• He makes a lot of sounds now, uhhh ahhh.
• He's in a deep sleep by 8 PM and is wide awake by 6 AM. He wakes up twice in between to feed. Lately he's been sleeping for 6 hours straight though which is awesome!

Long overdue post

Wow, it's been forever. What can I say, I don't like typing on the ipad, and we don't have any chairs for me to sit on to use our laptop. Yes that's right, we don't have any chairs at our place. Just a couch. And a dining table that's been standing there uselessly since we can't even use it. I just realized what an important role chairs have in our lives. Why no chairs? We can't afford them yet haha, well that deserves a post on its own..

Anyway, sooooo much has happened since my last post. In a nutshell:.

December 2011: We got married, yayyyyy! At the Church where my parents got married. Had an outdoor garden reception....and of course it rained! Don't remember much about that day, except that I was really happy that my brother flew all the way from Boston for the weekend, just to attend our wedding. He's the best. .

May 2012: we went on our 1 month honeymoon to Europe. It was awesome. We went to Germany, Switzerland, Italy and France. More on this in another post..

August 2012: my brother and his family came to visit us in Indo. We had a great time, and we adore his kids. We went to Bali and Bandung. Oh and we got pregnant at the end of this month!.

November 2012: we missed our nephews so much, Ari and Eli, that we decided to go to the States for a month! Wohooo. We also went to see the NBA live! More on this in another post..

January 2013: our house got flooded! I mean like badlyyy flooded. We had to move to my dad's place and my in-laws for a little bit. So we lost our house!.

March 2013: we moved to an empty apartment, and starting to purchase furniture little by little (that's why we're broke). Oh and A got a new job..

June 2, 2013: our little baby boy was born, baby J! Right on my husband's birthday too. More on this in another post. .

Today: baby J is almost 2 months old. I have stretchmarks. Bags under eyes. Still 3 kg overweight. I smell like puke everyday. And I'm unemployed!.

Ok so that's all for now, hopefully I'll be able to write more if the baby is cooperative.

Tahapan Jimmy & BLW

Ini kurang lebih tahap-tahap yang dilalui Jimmy dan BLW:

• 6 bulan: tahap eksplorasi, belajar mengangkat makanan, mengarahkan ke mulut, menyicip makanan, sedikit mengunyah. Hasil: ada makanan yang masuk karena terlihat dari isi popoknya.
• 7 bulan: mulai pintar mengunyah, tetapi masih banyak mainnya. Sempat ada fase dimana dia hanya mengemut makanannya dan dibiarkan didalam mulutnya selama 5 menit (lamaaa).
• 7,5 bulan: mulai mengerti konsep makan sebagai suatu kebutuhan, lebih fokus makan.
• 8 bulan:  tambah pintar memegang makanan. Mulai menyukai makanan berpotongan dadu kecil. Mulai menggunakan kedua tangan secara bersamaan untuk mengambil makanan. Sempat ada fase dimana dia menaruh makanan sebanyak-banyaknya dalam mulut yang sudah terlalu penuh..

  

  Masukkan ke mulut sebanyak-banyaknya!

• 9 bulan: akhirnya benar-benar mengerti konsep makan dan mulai makan dalam jumlah 'banyak'. Mulai mengambil makanan dengan menggunakan satu tangan. Mulai suka menggoda mamanya dengan membuang makanan ke lantai secara sengaja untuk melihat reaksi saya.
• 10 bulan: tambah pintar, tetapi masih suka buang-buang makanan.

*Tentunya kalau sedang sakit,  Jimmy hampir tidak mau makan dan hanya mau susu saja. Tetapi ini paling maksimal 2-3 hari.

Barang apa saja yang diperlukan untuk BLW?

Hanya sedikit yang diperlukan untuk mempermudah BLW:

1. High chair / booster seat                                                                                                           
   
   Pilih yang gampang dibersihkan, misalnya yang terbuat dari plastik seperti yang dijual di Informa. Jadi kalau kotor tinggal dibilas air saja di kamar mandi kalau perlu. Bayi juga sebenarnya bisa dipangku sambil makan, tetapi akan susah untuk observasi dia kalau kita yang pangku.

2. Kukusan                                                                                                                                        
   Pada awal BLW, sebagian besar makanan untuk bayi akan perlu dikukus. Ada macam-macam kukusan, dari yang murah sampai yang mahal. Kukusan beli di pasar pun cukup, yang penting higienis dan tidak karatan.

Tambahan opsional:

1. Oven untuk memanggang makanan, misalnya oven elektrik kecil
2. Slaber / celemek agar baju bayi tidak terlalu kotor. Kalau mau lebih tidak kotor lagi, bayi hanya makan pakai popok saja =) asal AC/kipas angin dimatikan!
   
3. Tissu basah higienis untuk membersihkan meja makan bayi sebelum dia makan agar selalu higienis.
   
   
   
   
   
4. Alas lebar untuk lantai yang ditaruh dibawah highchair agar lantai tidak terlalu kotor dan lebih cepat dibersihkan (terutama untuk yang tidak punya pembantu). Sebaiknya menggunakan alas berbahan plastik, seperti yang dijual di toko bangunan (dijual per meter), jadi tinggal dibilas air setelah dipakai.

   

   Kurang berantakan ga ma?

5. Piring plastik yang ada karet tempelan di bawahnya. Ini terutama untuk kalau makan di luar, karena meja restoran biasanya kurang higienis.

 

6. Wadah makan/container untuk menyimpan makanan bayi jika perlu bepergian

Anyway, so in May we went to Singapore. We took Lion Air, and they messed up our seat arrangements which was not cool! But I guess HARGA GA BOHONG.

Arriving at Changi, we didn't go to the apartment straight. Instead, we went to a sandwich place (forgot the name) that A loves so much in Terminal 2.
Then we took the metro to A's family's apartment in Somerset. We stayed home that night because it was already late.

The next day we got up and had breakfast at Killiney Road. Then we took the metro to go to Universal Studios! We were excited. It was soooo hot that day though. We brought a backpack with bottles of water, but it turns out they had water fountains around the park. We tried almost all the rides. The roller coaster was crazy, I think we both are just too old to ride that sttuff, too much shaking going on.
Our favorite ride was the Mummy.

At the end of the day, we wanted to ride the Jurrasic boat thingy. We got in line for an hour or so...and by the time we got to the front line, they suddenly closed the ride for technical issues!!! Boo!! And all they gave us was an express pass for that ride for the day, but it was already 6 PM, so the park was going to close soon anyway. They should have given us a better compensation after waiting for so long in the heat. Hmpff.
