It's been too long since I wrote here. Recap:
March
Just lots of going to the malls and movies.
One of our highlights was dinner on March 9th with my good friend Shinta from Yogya. We picked her up after work at her hotel, and took her straight to Pondok Laguna. A's been here, and he said it was good. So we tried it. We loved the curry prawn, they're gigantic. Ikan gurame, yummy. Kangkung, cumi, and lots of rice. I was so full I could hardly walk after. The price was reasonable.
Then we took Shinta back to her hotel at Aryaduta, and we decided to check the room out. I have to say we didn't have high expectations, but we were surprised. Shinta's room was bigggg, big bathroom, a small dining room and living room. A little outdated, but nice, and it was all less than 600 ribu per night.
Another highlight was a family lunch on March 26th at Angke Kelapa Gading. We had high expectations because I heard they have a lot of wedding receptions there. But the food was average and overly priced. Boo!
After lunch, we went to Fatahilah Square, because I heard of this event called Mystery of Batavia. We got there at 3ish, since the first show was at 4 PM. We went around and waited for an hour, only to be told that the first show was full, and the next available show was at 5 PM. Boo! So went home to Cibubur instead.
April
So I obviously complained to the people organizing the Mystery of Batavia event, and they were nice enough to allocate 2 tickets for me for April 2nd.
Before going to Fatahilah, we went to Puri Hospital to visit our friend who just had a baby. Very nice and clean hospital.
So back to Fatahilah. I think it was great of them to organize something like this. But maybe they could have organized it a little better somehow. A and I were a little confused. I guess we had to read the website first thoroughly before going to the show to understand.
I also read about this historical islands tour, organized by Komunitas Historia. And we thought it would be fun, so we joined on April 9th. Anything but malls on a Saturday!
We left Pluit really early at 6 AM and went straight to pelelangan ikan at Muara Kamal.
It was our first time going to the Thousand Islands, so it was great to see what it's like. The tour itself was ok, we spent a little too much time on each island without a clear agenda, so A and I got very bored. We were supposed to head back to Jakarta at 1 PM, but of course they stretched it all the way to 3 PM. I have an issue with lateness.
Anyway, that's about it. Next week (May) we're going to Universal Studios Singapore! Yay! And in June, we're going to Pontianak! Excited. We are soooo going to be broke.
